Welcome to Praying the News!
Thanks for joining us as we learn to hand over the hardest headlines to the God who wrote the story.

But first, a confession: we’re still new at this. Would you answer these two quick questions for us after praying so we can serve you better?

Happy Sunday,

This week, our team dove into the Epstein files (catch up here if you missed it). With resolution elusive, Americans are craving more information, thinking it will mean justice for the late financier’s associates and closure for his victims.

But here’s the kicker: even with access to every available file, some sin would still be hidden. “Remember, the sins of some people are obvious, leading them to certain judgment. But there are others whose sins will not be revealed until later.” (1 Timothy 5:24-25 NLT)

Some sins are plain for everyone to see, but others will only come to light when God judges everything. Human judgment can’t see into the heart or possess all the facts, so it’s doomed to fall short.

But the good news for those who love the Lord is that His piercing judgment will one day tie up all the loose ends. He’s not just in possession of all the details… He’s intimately familiar with “the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” We’re naked before Him (Hebrews 4:12-13 ESV).

And there’s still better news: He sent Jesus to the cross, naked and ashamed before His enemies, so that we could stand at peace before God, covered by His blood and unashamed.

Come boldly to Him now:

Holy Father,
Your understanding has no limit, and nothing is hidden from you.
Secret sin is not secret from you,
and you see those who have been hurt under the cover of darkness.
You are near to the brokenhearted and close to the poor in spirit.

Heal the wounds caused by Jeffrey Epstein and others like him.
Grow something new where sorrow had been.
Bring justice in the place of corruption
and closure in the place of questions.
May those who mourn be comforted,
trusting you to make everything right in your time.

Untangle those who are still stuck in sin’s deadly web.
Open their eyes to your coming verdict,
compelling your enemies to confess and become your friends.

Give sound judgment to elected officials,
that they might do right by victims,
unmoved by the greed or power lust
that might tempt them toward partiality.

And when we crave more and more information,
eager to satisfy never-ending curiosity,
humble us with the not-knowing that marks us as human;
teach us to learn for the purpose of serving others;
and satisfy us with the promise that you know all things
and are carefully working them for our good and your glory.

May we walk before you naked and unashamed,
scarred by sin but covered by the righteousness of Jesus, in whom we pray.
Amen.

Yours in Christ,
Steph Juliot
